About the Position

We have a fantastic opportunity for a suitably qualified Tax Professional to join our dedicated team. As an integral member of the team, you will help partner with clients to manage their tax obligations and assist to provide tax advice. The role will mainly report to the teams' managers/partners and involve a high level of client contact. With the tax landscape constantly evolving and the team being a key part of the Firm's service offering, you will provide both direct and indirect tax solutions and advice to a broad range of clients (personal to corporate). The role will suit an individual who is looking to broaden their tax experience into a variety of areas and accelerate their learning in a great team and working environment.

Specifically, as part of this diverse role, you will: 

  • Prepare income tax returns of a more complex nature involving private corporate groups, consolidated tax groups and listed companies.
  • Provide advice for subscribers of tax question and answer service contracts.
  • Assist with Fringe Benefits Tax Returns and related advice for listed and unlisted clients.
  • Assist with tax-effect accounting and tax notes for large private groups and listed entities.
  • Help develop internal work papers and templates.
  • Conduct ad hoc research, including general support or aid in drafting specific advice for clients and other internal business units (audit and assurance, corporate finance, local government, and business services);
  • Draft internal and external communications/tax related content and assistance with the preparation of internal and external training materials; and
  • Attend and assist with internal and external training and structured firm events.

About You 

Ideally, you will have two to four years' of corporate tax or business services experience with a strong interest in tax looking to move away from preparation of financial statements. You will be able to provide clear and concise advice on a broad range of tax issues affecting individuals, small-medium enterprises through to corporate clients, including listed entities, in addition to: 

  • Possessing two to four years’ experience in a similar position.
  • An ability to apply knowledge and understanding relating to Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, Goods and Services Tax, with exposure to international tax and tax effect accounting calculations desirable but not required.
  • Exposure and experience with Employee Share Schemes will be advantageous. On the job training for new growth areas can be provided for the suitable candidate.
  • You have commenced or completed your CPA or CA qualification or hold an industry-relevant qualification.
  • Your key strengths will be your attitude and appetite to learn and apply your knowledge to solve client matters in a proactive manner.
  • A competent user of Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • You have sound written and verbal communications skills.
  • Sound judgement, critical thinking and analytical skills are vital to enable you to perform your role successfully.
  • You will also possess a high level of initiative and organisational skills and manage a variety of clients to achieve deadlines; and
  • A current national police clearance (within six months), Australian working rights.
